He didn't notice that you're eight foot three?
It wasn't really any different than the other dudes who follow me asking for money, he just had a different schtick. Instead of "needing change for the bus", he "was gonna karate chop me in the neck". I believed he could incapacitate me with his karate just about as much as I believe the other dudes really have a bus to catch.
yeah but I worry about whether they have a weapon or not. So I wasn't happy when I had to tell a guy in paris to try and attack me or let me go.
Heh heh..."steal"...I get it! Nice one. :)
Shouldn't you have given him money so you could have checked one of your life goals off the list?
I don't want to go halfway on my life goals, man. No little sissy karate chop dude that I gave cash to just so I could say I got mugged. When i get mugged for real, I want it to be for real.
If only you recorded it.. I could've helped translate :P
One of those many situations where by the time I realize the situation is shaping up to be a good video, it's too late to start filming.
I'll get you next time, Ryan!!
You accidentally killed a man?
I had a similar situation once where a guy asked me for a rolly (uk slang for roll your own cigarette) when I stopped to roll him one he reached into his jacket and said "give me your money" I replied "rolly?" he replied "money!" and we then carried on with this comical back and forth. Eventually he pulled from his jacket, not a knife or gun, but a small block of wood. I ran off. He threw the wood. It hit me, didn't hurt, I laughed.
Also once I was mugged for real by a big gang of youths and that WAS scary as I thought I might die.
That must have been quite a walk... The EP Airport is not close to any International Bridge to Juarez, and the International Bridges are not close to the bus station.
Which bridge did you cross to get back to Mexico? I guess Libre, because it's the only one that doesn't charge you to cross.
Welcome to Juarez. Seriously, if there's one thing I've never understood about my beautiful country is the presence of a high number of benevolent yet potentially crazy individuals, like Daksha. Juarez has its own share of crazy people.
Example: There was an old crazy guy who drove an imaginary Mustang through Downtown Juarez. Everyone liked him, because he was a really polite driver, despite not having an actual car. He was affectionately called "El Güero Mustang". He might have died a couple of years ago, but his legend still lives on, his story told countless times by the people who witnessed the best driver of imaginary cars in the whole border.
Oh, yeah... it took me like 16 hours... not of direct walking, but of exploring both cities. Gotta get my hiking practice in before Kilimanjaro! I took whichever one leads to Juarez street... it was like 2 pesos to cross.
And one thing I've learned in travelling..... every country, every city in the world has it's share of crazies. That's what makes travelling awesome!
Aah, I see, there aren't many markets in Juarez that fit the classical definition of "Mercado", so I was kinda wondering how close you were to downtown Juarez, where most markets are.
Yeah, traveling is fun, regardless of the crazies. They're just the spice that makes the stories you tell your friends and family afterwards. The ones that get the most laughs! :)
I always thought Vegas would be a dump. But karate chop muggers?! Why am I not living there?
Heh, "Karate Chop Muggers" sounds like a good comic book title, which I don't plan on using.
Hehe. I bet he was totally SRS BZNSing you!11! xD
Hahaha, oh my.
BTW: I got the package :D It's been a very ryan week (as a friend sent me "Your Whole Family is Made Out of Meat" this week too!)
Oh now I'm sad that I'm not your hero D:
Oh, but you're my runner-up Hero! In the case that the first Hero cannot carry out his duties, you shall take his place. Also, you get a lifetime supply of spaghetti-o's*!
* = A twelve pack.
Best thing I read all day. :D |
