A new webcomic just started up that I'm already a fan of, only 2 updates in. Kiskaloo starts off with a grumpy little cat, upset that 2007 didn't go so well for him. Well, I'd feel that way too, if I had been kicked out of my supporting role in a Disney film and relegated to a blog. But we should be glad to have him! This comic is the creation of Chris Sanders, director of Lilo and Stitch, and all around awesome artist. It seems after Chris was unceremoniously removed as director of his film American Dog, all of his characters were tossed out as well, and one of them has been sneakily resurrected in this comic.
Everyone welcome Chris (perhaps with a drawing meme? My submission is above...), and marvel at just another thing Webcomics can do. (In this case, save a cool character from forever rotting in the Disney archives)
The meme has begun!
...and in case someone is interested, there's already a LJ feed:chrissandersart
i'm sad that we'll never get to see his American Dog. but it least we get the cat. the cat is awesome!
chris sanders is awesome. and a super nice guy if you ever meet him at comic con!
His character design is so effing good.
I love the idea of this drawing meme! To work!
Haha, oh wow, Mr. Lasseter? He and his ilk are going to be the final nail in the coffin for Disney.
There's no doubt that John Lasseter is one talented Mamma-jamma. I dunno enough about this particular movie's history to know what's what. It was fun though, after reading how Lasseter made them redo 60% of Meet the Robinsons, watching the director introduce the deleted scenes and grit his teeth, claiming they were cut "for time"
Very nifty. I already started my fanart for this one.
Cool! I'm surprised Disney let him keep the cat. I'm glad though cuz he seemed like the best part! Yay comics!
awesome! thanks for pointing this out! a couple years ago i reluctantly got a sketch from chris at comic con. one of my fondest, strangest con memories...
Who was reluctant, you or him?
he was. it was so strange. i bought one of his sketchbooks from someone sitting at his booth and i asked the girl there if chris was going to be at the con today. and she was like, "um.. i'm not sure- wait here he is!". he had just walked in. awesome! so i asked if he could draw a little something in the book i just bought and he was like "uh.. ummmm.....i don't know.... uh..." and a lot of "uhing and umming". but even though he's going "eh, i don't know..." he still takes the book i just bought from me. so chris is still uhing and umming and he's looking around for something (and you can tell he does NOT want to draw something yet he's holding my book) and we figure he's looking for a pencil or something. so my friend is there with me, with a pencil, and he hands chris his pencil and says "here, you need a pencil?" so chris takes my friend's pencil, looks at it quietly for a bit, then hands it back and says "no" then starts looking around again. then he picks up THE EXACT SAME pencil (that he has) and sits down and draws this cute little sketch of stitch in my book. it was so bizarre, like i was using the force to make him draw something for me without really meaning too. he seemed like a very nice guy, but the whole experience left me awfully confused, especially my friend who couldn't figure out what was wrong with his pencil.
sorry- long way to say "i guess you should have been there". :)

Chris's odd behavior
Hey Mr. Cow!
Chris is a good friend of mine and I might be able to clear up his behaior for you. It wasn't that he didn't want to do a drawing for you, from your description of of his behavior, it sounds like he was very tire. Chris is easily confused when he is tired. And the thing with the pencil? He has a touch of OCD. Next time, tell him who you are and don't fail to mention your webcomic. He'll focus in on you, and you'll have a lovely conversation.
He'd be flattered by this whole thing, by the way.

Re: Chris's odd behavior
i was hoping if i wrote all that out someone would explain it to me. :)
i should add that i didn't think anything ill of chris from this. i figured i kind of caught him off guard. it was just a strange experience. the ocd really does help explain the pencil though. i'll have to try to visit him again if he's back at SDCC again this year.
it's good to hear from you, john! do you ever make it out there? let's have a conversation on ryan's journal! :D
Oh wow, I had been completely oblivious to all of this. It's too bad "American Dog" won't ever see the light of day, it sounds like a neat concept.
I might possibly have to jump on this meme as well...
